Leah Gitterman,
Medical Advisor to Pandemic 101™
 

Leah Gitterman has an undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Immunology from Dalhousie University and a Masters of Health Science in Community Health and Epidemiology, from the University of Toronto.

As an epidemiologist working in infection prevention and control at the University Health Network Leah has a broad based knowledge of infection prevention and control measures, research, procedures and policies. She is also the hand hygiene coordinator there, and has primary responsibility for developing hand hygiene procedures at the UHN including observational audits, product procurement, communications, and patient engagement. In addition Leah has provided consulting advice to a number of hospitals across the province of Ontario. In addition, Leah was project coordinator for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Hand Hygiene Pilot project, providing advice and feedback on the development of the provincial hand hygiene improvement program.

Leah brings her broad range of pandemic planning expertise and infection control knowledge to the Pandemic 101™ Team. As a member of the medical advisory committee for Pandemic 101™ Leah will work with the committee to review and maintain the medical accuracy of the Pandemic 101™ program. Leah will also work as a consultant for Pandemic 101™ to provide support to our certified consulting partners and clients around the issues related to infection prevention and control. Leah is also a contributor to the Pandemic News Network (PNN) highlighting and explaining current new in the area of infection control and evolving pandemic issues and their implications.
